OUR STORY
Why I Created Askie
Before Askie, I worked at Meta on the Meta AI app, on the speech-to-speech models that let people hold a real, spoken conversation with AI.
One evening I let my son try it. He loved it. He talked to it for ages, asking one question after another, and it answered every one of them out loud.
But I could never walk away. I had no visibility into what he asked or what came back, and the answers were long and complex, written for adults rather than for a child his age. So every time he used it, I sat right next to him.
Then my son asked about dangerous snakes in the UK. The answer described the world's most dangerous species and exactly how they kill. He didn't sleep properly for weeks.
That was the moment I decided to build Askie: the conversation my son loved, with answers shaped for a child's age, safety checks on every reply, and a parent dashboard, so parents can see what their kids explore without sitting beside them.
“I searched for a safe AI my kids could use and couldn't find one. So I built it.”
